Client Content Approval Workflows That Do Not Kill Your Timeline

Your writers deliver drafts on time. Your articles still publish late. The bottleneck has moved from production to approval, and the workflow you wrote in 2023 was not built for it.

How to choose the right model for each client
The right model depends on three variables: who has authority on the client side, how regulated the content topic is, and how many client accounts your agency is running. The wrong model produces the bottleneck the model was meant to solve.
Use single-approver when the client has one marketing decision-maker and the content is general thought leadership or top-of-funnel SEO. The model fails when there is no real decision-maker, only "the team will look at it." If you cannot get a name on the contract, you cannot run single-approver.

The most common failure modes that kill content timelines
- The vanishing client. Articles sit in review for 5 or more working days with no response, and the contract has no review SLA to anchor the chase.
